E-COMMERCE UX FOR REALTRUCK
SAME DAY SHIPPING
Design, strategy, UX, and execution for releasing a new feature to drive the sale of in-stock inventory. 2021.
Turning a filter into a feature
RealTruck is a revolutionary entity in the aftermarket and performance truck industry. With over 300,000 parts available through their e-commerce platform, a practical, thoughtful user experience is imperative.
In addition to its vast network of shipping solutions, RealTruck also warehouses specific inventory. This managed inventory generally ships out quicker than other items and is less impacted by delays. Making it easy for users to find these items drives revenue increases and dramatically improves customer satisfaction.
Our in-stock filter was named RapidShip. After the user enters their vehicle’s information, turning this switch on narrows the results to in-stock items. By building and marketing this as a comprehensive feature, we’ve made it easier to find and use, a key industry differentiator, and an integral part of our customer shopping experience.
RapidShip Toggle
While the feature could have been a checkbox, I decided to build it as a toggle. This increases visual hierarchy and dramatically improves engagement.
In the “off” state, the toggle matches the rest of the site’s design system. There’s a thin green line to subtly draw attention without being too disruptive.
When the toggle is turned “on,” it transitions fully to the branded color. The inline facet also reflects a consistency of visual language.
Any product lines available for same-day shipping display the green RapidShip indicator in the product tile.
Promo Landing Page
I designed a landing page for this new feature. The page promotes the new feature and informs users about its meaning and how to use it.
Ad campaigns promote the feature, and this page serves as a target for those ads, making it easy to inform users and get them engaged in shopping.
Obligatory disclaimer for this project. This feature and its promotional landing page were strategized and designed by myself and the RealTruck graphics team. The final implementation is the sole property of the RealTruck and is shown here for non-commercial, portfolio-y purposes.
